UFC rules favor BJJ over traditional Jujitsu. Traditional Jujitsu uses a lot of small joint manipulation, something which is banned in the UFC. Brazilian Jujitsu applies 100% to the UFC ring, while only about 30% of traditional Jujitsu can be applied to the ring after you eliminate illegal techniques.

I am pretty sure a lot of those fighters have trained traditional Jujitsu along the way. Traditional Jujitsu is a combat/self defense art. I applies better on the street or the battle field. Its more limited in the ring without small joint manipulation but better against multiple opponents than BJJ in a street fight. Defeating multiple opponents is entirely possible, but less likely if you go to the ground along with your attackers while there are still other opponents circling you.
